Arlington’s newest sushi-and-vinyl spot, Oasis: The Listening Bar, pairs high-fidelity tunes with Japanese food, sake, and whisky flights. DJs spin vinyl, live bands perform, and a menu of sashimi, maki, and decadent small plates (think foie gras and 24K gold) make it a feast for the senses. Find it at 2940 Clarendon Blvd.

Arlington and Northern Virginia will host Oktoberfest events this fall, including Clarendon Ballroom’s BierDeck (Sept. 27) and Blocktoberfest (Oct. 18), Shipgarten Tysons (Sept. 20), McLean Kids Fest (Oct. 19), Holy Trinity Fun Run, and Alexandria’s John Carlyle Square (Sept. 17).

When Café by Kitchen of Purpose closed in January, it reopened with a new mission: hosting monthly four-course dinners for neighbors experiencing homelessness. Partnering with PathForward, local chefs serve meals with care and dignity, giving guests not just food, but self-respect, hope, and a reminder that they matter.

🐶 Arlington May Simplify Dog Licensing
Arlington is working to streamline dog licensing, moving from a clunky two-step online process toward a one-time system. Lifetime licenses cost $30, service animals are exempt, and compliance remains far from 100% among dog owners.

Arlingtonian Tori Rittinger, founder of Talk Tiles to Me, is opening the region’s first mahjong studio next month in Falls Church. The 1,000-square-foot space will feature themed game rooms, drop-in play, kids’ camps, and even a mahjong brunch club.

Columbia Pike’s $161M multimodal project has frustrated small businesses, with owners reporting 40–50% profit drops. Detours, rough roads, and limited parking are keeping customers away. County expects major work done by end of 2025, with finishing touches into 2026.

French laser-tech company Cailabs US Inc. is moving its U.S. headquarters from D.C. to 1530 Wilson Blvd. in North Rosslyn, investing $300K and creating 16 new jobs. Arlington Magazine spotlighted Gerri Maskelony, who teaches math, statistics, and music appreciation at Arlington Tech. 📵 Students Keep Phones in Pouches
This school year, some Arlington high schools—including Wakefield, Washington-Liberty, Yorktown, H-B Woodlawn, and Arlington Career Center—are requiring students to store their phones in locked pouches from bell to bell.
