📰 News Bites
Quick local updates
⛸️ Westpost Ice Rink Opens
Northern Virginia’s largest outdoor ice rink is now open at Westpost. The 7,200-square-foot rink features a cozy dual-sided stone fireplace, skate rentals, and daily hours through mid-March. Reservations are recommended as the season gets underway.
🍬 Donate Leftover Halloween Candy
Too much sugar? Several Northern Virginia spots are turning sweets into good deeds. Drop off extra candy at The Toy Nest, VK Pediatric Dentistry, Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, or Caboose Brewing to support local workers, military families, and community programs.
🥫 ARL Boosts Aid Amid SNAP Delays
With federal SNAP benefits disrupted by the shutdown, Arlington County approved $350K in emergency funding for the Arlington Food Assistance Center to help impacted households. The County will also assist SNAP recipients with referrals and share updates from the Virginia Department of Social Services.
♻️ Fall E-CARE Returns Nov. 8
Clean out your garage responsibly at Arlington’s free Fall Environmental Collection and Recycling (E-CARE) event on Nov. 8, 8:30 a.m.–3 p.m., at 1425 N. Quincy St. Drop off old electronics, hazardous materials, and even gently used Halloween costumes for recycling or donation.
