🌳 ARL Parks Wins Gold
Arlington’s Department of Parks and Recreation won the 2025 National Gold Medal Award for Excellence, recognizing its innovation, environmental leadership, and inclusive programming. From expanding access for families to enhancing teen safety and sustainability, DPR’s award highlights the community impact of Arlington’s nationally celebrated parks system.

🎉 Clarendon Day is Back
Arlington’s biggest street festival returns Saturday, Sept. 27, with eight blocks of food, live music, vendors, and kids’ activities. Expect performances by Justin Trawick and The Common Good, Pebble to Pearl, and Collective—plus inflatables, crafts, and prizes for the first 500 kids.

📚 Looking to Volunteer? Join ‘Readers Rise’
Arlington Public Schools is seeking volunteers for “Readers Rise,” a new pilot program launching mid-October at Barrett, Hoffman-Boston, and Long Branch elementary schools. Community members will spend an hour a week reading with K–2 students, aiming to boost literacy and excitement for books. Volunteers can apply through Sept. 26.

💪 New Ways to Work Out
Arlington’s fitness scene is buzzing with outdoor classes and new gyms this fall. From yoga sculpt and barre to HIIT, Zumba, dance cardio and even trampoline workouts, there’s something for every routine. Highlights include Fit @ Potomac Yard, Hustle with Sunny Mae, and upcoming studios Barre3 and M2.

🏛️ County Board Wrap-Up
At its September meetings, the Arlington County Board approved plans for a 14-story mixed-use building at 2500 Wilson Blvd. with affordable units, bike lanes, and public art, deferred the Inn of Rosslyn redevelopment to January, and initiated a zoning study to address regulatory inconsistencies.

🗳️ Early Voting Opens
Arlington voters can cast early ballots for the Nov. 4 general election from Sept. 19–Nov. 1 at multiple sites across the county or by mail. Races include governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, House of Delegates, and local school and county board seats.
